TIPS ON NOVEL CORONAVIRUS PNEUMONIA (COVID-19) PREVENTION AND CONTROL

1. Q: What are the symptoms of novel coronavirus infection?

A: The main symptoms include fever, fatigue and dry cough. Some patients may also have stuffy and running noses, sore throat, diarrhea. Severe patients mostly suffer from dyspnea and / or hypoxemia after one week of infection.


2. Q: How to seek medical treatment when having symptoms?

A: In case of fever (axillary temperature ≥37.3 Centigrade), cough, shortness of breath and other symptoms of acute respiratory infection, it is recommended to choose the nearest fever clinic, not necessarily an COVID-19 designated hospital. Please rest assured that Zhengzhou has well-managed regulations on diagnosis and treatment procedures.


3. Q: Who are the close contacts?

A: People who live, study, work or have close contact with the case; people who do not take effective protective measures when diagnosing, treating, nursing or visiting the case; other patients and caregivers who are in the same room with the case; people who are in the same vehicle with the case and have close contact with the case; people who are evaluated to be qualified after investigation by the spot investigators.


4. Q: What would you do if you're a close contact?

A: Don't panic. Neither go to work nor go out at will. Take self physical condition observation and receive regular follow-up visits by community doctors. In case of abnormal clinical manifestations such as fever, cough, etc., go to the designated medical institutions for troubleshooting, diagnosis and treatment under the guidance of community personnel.


5. Q: How to choose the right type of masks?

A: Wearing a mask is an effective measure against respiratory infection diseases. If you are in a severely affected area, it's recommended to wear a surgical mask, otherwise use a disposable medical mask.


6. Q: How to protect against COVID-19 in a public transportation vehicle?

A: Buses, subways, ships, airplanes and other public transportation vehicles tend to have many travelers. You should always wear masks, try to avoid in touch with public facilities and keep quiet. When you cough or sneeze, cover your mouth and nose with paper towels or arms with civilized etiquette.


7. Q: How to protect against COVID-19 in a public elevator?

A: The elevator is a closed place. Wear a mask when taking an elevator. Wash your hands immediately after touching the elevator button. Elevators should be disinfected regularly and kept well-ventilated. It is recommended to take the stairs instead of an elevator in case of low storey.


8. Q: How to protect against COVID-19 in the office?

A: When working with many others, you should wear a mask, wash your hands frequently and ventilate the office timely. Regularly disinfect public items such as door handles, switches, and computers for use by all the staff.


9. Q: Will foreigners be in quarantine observation after their entry?

A: Considering the local needs for epidemic prevention and control, examination, quarantine and other prevention and control measures have been taken for people coming from countries and regions with grave epidemic situation, like temperature checks, quarantine at home or medical observation at designated places.These measures accord with Chinese laws and regulations. As a necessary part of our prevention and control measures, they are effective in stemming the cross-border spread of the virus and conducive to prevention and control efforts in China and other countries as well.


10. Q: Are the prevention and control measures for Chinese and foreign nationals alike?

A: We treat Chinese and foreign nationals alike. We will implement corresponding measures without any discrimination, take full consideration of the legitimate concerns of the persons involved and respect their religions and customs. After their entry, the community will provide necessary support and assistance if needed.


11. Q: How to do the health declaration for exit and entry personnel?

A: All exit and entry personnel must make health declaration. The customs shall check the declaration content and infection symptoms at the port strictly, whether they have been to the epidemic area or country within 14 days, and whether they have close contact with confirmed case. The Declaration of Health has been translated into more than ten languages with an applet accordingly. Before arriving at the port, you can fill in the form on your mobile phones. Once the QR code generates, you scan the code at the port, and realize "online report and code release".


12. Q: What to do when your visa expires during the epidemic period?

A: If your visa expires, it can be automatically extended for two months during the epidemic period. Within the extended period, you don't have to go through the extension formalities again, and you can stay or leave China normally.


13. Q: How to get visa if foreigners come to China to join the fight against COVID-19?

A: Foreigners who come to China to collaborate in epidemic prevention and control, or engage in important business and feasibility study activities can apply for a port visa at the port of entry in case they do not get visa in advance due to emergencies.
